Alhamdulillah, a special child Shahwaiz Iqbal, who went missing in December 2025 from Gujranwala has finally been reunited with his mother in Multan. It was an emotional moment filled with relief, hope, and gratitude, the kind of moment every family waits for.
The child was found in a vulnerable and abandoned condition. Due to his speech and hearing impairment, he was unable to communicate his name, address, or any details about his family. With no identification available, finding his home became extremely difficult. For his protection and care, he was placed at the Edhi Foundation, where he stayed among other children in need.
Meanwhile, his family was going through an incredibly painful time. With no information about their child, they continued to live in uncertainty, holding onto hope for a miracle.
That turning point came when the case was taken up by Mera Pyara - Virtual Center for Child Safety, working under the vision of Punjab Safe Cities Authority. As part of their efforts to reunite missing and unidentified children with their families, the team recorded a short video of the child and shared it on their official social media platforms to reach a wider audience.
Soon, that effort paid off.
The child’s family came across the video and immediately felt a strong connection. After carefully reviewing it, they contacted the Mera Pyara team and shared their belief that the child might be their missing son.
Following this, a proper verification process was carried out. The family provided necessary details and background information, which were thoroughly checked. Once everything was confirmed and legal requirements were completed, the long-awaited reunion was arranged.
The reunion itself was deeply emotional, a mother finally holding her child again after months of pain and uncertainty. It was a moment of pure relief, love, and joy.
Stories like this highlight the real impact of Mera Pyara’s mission. Through the smart use of technology and dedicated teamwork, the initiative continues to bring families back together. Its efforts have also gained international recognition, including being selected among the Top 20 E-Government initiatives at the WSIS Forum 2026.
Mera Pyara continues to move forward with one clear goal: no child should ever remain separated from their family.
