Alhamdulillah, after 2.5 years of separation, a young girl has finally been reunited with her family, a heart-touching moment made possible through the dedicated efforts of Mera Pyara - Virtual Center for Child Safety, working under the vision of Punjab Safe Cities Authority.
The girl was found in a vulnerable condition in the area of Seetal Mari, District Multan. At the time of recovery, she was unable to share her name, address, or any family details, making it difficult to trace her identity. For her safety and care, she was shifted to Edhi Foundation at Edhi Home Multan on 28 August 2024.
She remained under protection there, away from her loved ones, while her family continued to search for her with hope and uncertainty.
When the case came under the attention of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, the Mera Pyara team initiated efforts to identify her and trace her family. As part of its mission, the team recorded her video and shared it on Mera Pyara’s official social media platforms to maximize outreach.
This effort led to a breakthrough.
Her father, Bashir Ahmed, saw the video on Mera Pyara’s Facebook page and immediately contacted the team. He identified the girl as his daughter, Chiro Mai, who had been missing since 2023 from District Layyah.
Following this lead, the Mera Pyara team conducted a thorough verification process. The family provided the necessary identification details, which were carefully reviewed. After completing all legal and verification procedures, the girl was safely reunited with her family.
The reunion was deeply emotional, a moment filled with relief, love, and gratitude as a father was finally able to hold his daughter again after years of separation.
Such success stories reflect the real impact of Mera Pyara’s mission. Due to its consistent efforts, the initiative has been recognized globally and selected among the Top 20 E-Government projects at the WSIS Forum 2026.
