After nine long years of separation, Kashaf has finally been reunited with her family, a heartwarming moment made possible through the dedicated efforts of Mera Pyara - Virtual Center for Child Safety, working under Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA).
Kashaf was found in Karachi in a vulnerable condition. Although she was able to share her name and some information about her home, she had been separated from her family for many years, making it difficult to reconnect her with her loved ones. For her safety and care, she was initially shifted to Edhi Home Karachi and later transferred to Edhi Home Multan on 17 April 2026.
After receiving her case, the Mera Pyara Multan team immediately began tracing efforts. Using the available information and coordinating with different stakeholders, the team worked tirelessly to identify and locate her family. With the support of the Mera Pyara Faisalabad team, significant progress was made in tracing her relatives.
After detailed verification and coordination, her family was successfully located. They confirmed her identity as Kashaf, daughter of Ghulam Murtaza, who had been missing for the past nine years. Following the completion of all necessary verification procedures, her father arrived at Edhi Home Multan to receive his daughter.
The reunion was filled with emotions, relief, and gratitude. After nearly a decade of uncertainty, a family that had spent years hoping and praying for their loved one’s return was finally reunited. It was a powerful reminder that no matter how much time passes, hope should never be lost.
This success story also reflects the broader mission of Mera Pyara. Established in July 2024, Mera Pyara was created to identify, trace, and reunite missing and vulnerable children and individuals with their families. The initiative actively visits shelter homes, collects and digitizes records, conducts interviews, and uses technology, social media outreach, and inter-agency coordination to reconnect families.
The impact of these efforts has gained recognition far beyond Pakistan. Within less than two years of its establishment, Mera Pyara - Virtual Center for Child Safety earned international recognition and was declared among the world's Top 5 e-Government projects as a WSIS Champion Project. This achievement reflects the platform’s innovative use of technology and its commitment to child protection and family reunification.
