An initiative of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), Mera Pyara – Virtual Center for Child Safety (VCCS) successfully reunited Saif Ali with his family.
A Child Who Could Not Tell His Story
Saif Ali is unable to hear or speak, which made it extremely difficult for him to communicate his identity, address, or details about his family. This communication gap made it difficult to find his family.
As part of its mission to help reunite lost and unidentified children and vulnerable individuals with their families, the Mera Pyara team took up Saif Ali's case. The team interviewed him and made every effort to obtain all the information they could to help identify him and to trace his family. But Saif Ali was unable to tell his story orally, so the team took another step.
They made a video of Saif Ali and posted it on the official Mera Pyara Facebook page. The purpose was simple. The team had hoped to reach as many people as they could in the hope that someone would recognize him. They were hoping that someone would recognize his face and know who he was.
Then came the moment that changed everything. Saif Ali's mother viewed his video on social media. She knew right away who the child was that she had been waiting for. It was her son whom she had been separated from for seven long years. She immediately contacted the Mera Pyara team and gave them the required details to start the identification and verification process.
The team worked with the family and carried out the necessary procedures to establish Saif Ali's identity and ensure his safe return to his family. After seven years of waiting, the time of everyone's dreams had finally arrived.
