A Father’s Search, a Social Media Video, and a Reunion Three Years in the Making
After three long years of separation, Romaan has finally been reunited with his father through the dedicated efforts of Mera Pyara - Virtual Center for Child Safety (VCCS), an initiative of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA). This emotional reunion is a reminder that even when a child cannot tell the world who he is or where he belongs, hope can still lead him home.
A Child Without a Name and Address
Romaan went missing in 2023. During this difficult time, he was found in a vulnerable condition in Islamabad by a kind-hearted individual. Unable to share his name, home address, or family details, he could not be easily identified or connected with his loved ones.
For his safety and care, Romaan was taken to Edhi Home Islamabad. He was later transferred to Edhi Home Multan, where he remained under the care of the shelter home.
Meanwhile, his family remained separated from him, with no knowledge of where he was or when they might see him again.
Mera Pyara’s Efforts to Identify Unidentified Children
As part of its mission to reunite missing and unidentified children with their families, the Mera Pyara team in Multan visited Edhi Home Multan to meet unidentified children and record their interviews.
The team documented the children's stories and recorded video profiles, which were shared on Mera Pyara's official social media platforms to help the public recognize them.
To increase the reach of these videos, Mera Pyara also used targeted social media promotion, helping the profiles reach more people and increasing the chances that a family member or someone who recognized a child would come forward.
Romaan was among the children whose video was shared through this initiative. His identity remained unknown, but the efforts to reconnect him with his family continued.
The Video That Changed Everything
After nearly three years of separation, a breakthrough finally came.
Romaan's father, M. Shawaal, came across his son's video on the official Mera Pyara Facebook page. He recognized the child as Romaan, his son who had been missing since 2023.
Overwhelmed with emotion and disbelief, he contacted the Mera Pyara team and shared the information about his missing son.
For a father who had spent years separated from his child, seeing that familiar face on a screen brought a moment he had been waiting for: the possibility of finding his son again.
The Mera Pyara team contacted the family and guided them to visit Edhi Home Multan to proceed with the reunification.
Three Years Later, a Father Holds His Son Again
And then came the moment that words can hardly describe.
A father and son stood together again after three long years. Romaan embraced his father tightly, and his father held him close.
The photograph captures more than a hug. It reflects the relief of a family reunited, the hope that endured through separation, and the impact of a video that reached the right person at the right time.
By the blessings of Almighty Allah, Romaan was reunited with his family. A child who once could not tell anyone his name or address was finally back with the people he belonged to.
Alhamdulillah, another family has been brought together.
