Alhamdulillah, after two years of separation, a woman, Asmat Zahra, has finally been reunited with her family. A deeply emotional moment made possible through the continuous and dedicated efforts of Mera Pyara - Virtual Center for Child Safety, working under the vision of Punjab Safe Cities Authority.
The woman was initially found in the Attock region in a vulnerable condition. She was unable to clearly share her complete identity or family address and could only state her name as Perveen, which made tracing her family extremely challenging. Due to her condition and for her safety and care, she was shifted to Edhi Foundation at Edhi Home, Islamabad, on 10 March 2025. Later, on 27 April 2025, she was transferred to Edhi Home Multan for continued care and protection.
During this time, she remained away from her loved ones, while her family continued searching for her with hope and patience, despite uncertainty growing with each passing day.
When the case came under the attention of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, the Mera Pyara team initiated a structured identification process. As part of its mission to reconnect missing and unidentified individuals with their families, the team recorded her interview and shared it on Mera Pyara’s official social media platforms to ensure wider outreach and visibility.
This initiative became the turning point in the case.
Her son, Ali Hussnain, saw the video on the Mera Pyara Facebook page and immediately recognized her as his mother, Asmat Zahra, wife of Syed Ghulam Murtaza, who had been missing for two years. He promptly contacted the Mera Pyara team to report the identification.
Following this, the Mera Pyara team carried out a thorough verification process. The family provided the necessary details and supporting information, which were carefully reviewed. After completion of all legal and verification procedures, the woman was safely reunited with her family.
The reunion was extremely emotional, a moment filled with tears of relief, gratitude, and overwhelming joy as a mother and son embraced after years of separation.
Such impactful reunification stories highlight the real mission and effectiveness of Mera Pyara. Due to its consistent contributions, the initiative has also gained international recognition and was selected among the Top 20 E-Government projects at the WSIS Forum 2026.
Mera Pyara continues its mission to ensure that every missing person is safely reunited with their loved ones.
