Some reunions are so emotional that they remind us never to give up hope. Tayyab’s story is one of them. After being separated from his family for six long years, he has finally been reunited with his mother. This heartwarming reunion became possible through the combined efforts of Mera Pyara – Virtual Center for Child Safety, an initiative of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), along with the support of caring citizens and the public.
Tayyab, a young boy from Sheikhupura, went missing in March 2020 after leaving his home and losing his way. Alone and unable to find his family, he was eventually found by a kind-hearted citizen who immediately took him to Edhi Home Multan, where he was provided with shelter, care, and protection.
At the time, Tayyab was too young to tell anyone about his home, his parents, or even his own identity. Without any information to identify him or contact his family, finding his loved ones became an extremely difficult task. While his family continued searching for him, Tayyab remained under the care of the Edhi Foundation, where he was looked after with compassion and dignity.
In July 2024, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority launched Mera Pyara – Virtual Center for Child Safety with the goal of tracing missing children and reuniting them with their families. As part of this mission, Mera Pyara teams regularly visit shelter homes across Pakistan to document cases of unidentified children and vulnerable individuals. During these visits, the team collects available information, prepares digital records, and records short interview videos that may help families recognize their missing loved ones.
These videos are then shared through Mera Pyara’s official social media platforms, allowing thousands of people across the country to see them and assist in the search.
During one such visit to Edhi Home Multan, the Mera Pyara team met Tayyab and conducted his interview. Every piece of information that could help identify him was carefully documented, and his interview video was later published on Mera Pyara’s official Facebook page, where it was further promoted to reach a wider audience.
That single video changed everything.
When the video appeared online, Tayyab’s mother saw it and immediately recognized her son. After spending six heartbreaking years wondering where he was, she finally had the answer she had been praying for. Without wasting any time, she contacted the Mera Pyara team and informed them that the child in the video was her missing son.
After receiving the information, the Mera Pyara team began the complete tracing and verification process. The family was guided through all the necessary legal and administrative requirements to confirm the child’s identity. Once every verification was completed, Tayyab was safely handed over to his mother.
The reunion was deeply emotional. After six years of separation, a mother was finally able to hold her son in her arms again. It was a moment filled with tears, relief, gratitude, and happiness, a moment that marked the end of years of pain and uncertainty.
