After 15 long years of separation, Shabana Kausar has finally been reunited with her family. A heartwarming reunion made possible through the efforts of Mera Pyara – Virtual Center for Child Safety, working under the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA).
For years, Shabana Kausar lived away from her loved ones, unable to reconnect with the family she had lost contact with. What began as a painful separation eventually turned into a story of hope, perseverance, and reunion.
Shabana Kausar was found in the Raiwind area of Lahore after becoming separated from her family. At the time, she was unable to provide any information about her home address, family members, or place of residence. Due to her vulnerable condition and the absence of identifying details, it was impossible to trace her family.
For her safety and care, she was shifted to Edhi Home Karachi on 09 September 2016. Later, on 03 June 2022, she was transferred to Edhi Home Multan, where she continued to live under protective care. Despite the passage of years, no information leading to her family could be found.
As part of its nationwide mission to reunite missing and vulnerable individuals with their families, the Mera Pyara team regularly visits shelter homes across Pakistan to document cases, collect information, conduct interviews, and create digital records of unidentified individuals.
During one such visit to Edhi Home Multan, the Mera Pyara team interviewed Shabana Kausar and documented her available information. Her case was added to the Mera Pyara database, and a short interview video was recorded and shared through Mera Pyara’s official social media platforms as part of an awareness campaign aimed at helping families identify their missing loved ones.
The campaign soon produced a breakthrough.
One day, Shabana Kausar’s brother, Abdul Shakoor, came across her interview video on Mera Pyara’s official Facebook page. The moment he saw her, he immediately recognized her as his long-lost sister.
He promptly contacted the Mera Pyara team and informed them that the woman featured in the video was Shabana Kausar, daughter of Rehmat Ali, who had been missing since 2011.
Following this important lead, the Mera Pyara team initiated a detailed tracing and verification process. The family was contacted, relevant information was cross-checked, and all necessary legal and administrative procedures were completed to ensure accurate identification.
After successful verification, Shabana Kausar was safely reunited with her family.
The reunion was deeply emotional. After 15 years of separation, a sister was reunited with her brother, a daughter returned to her family, and years of uncertainty finally came to an end. It was a moment filled with tears of joy, gratitude, and relief.
