Alhamdulillah, after 5 years of separation, a missing child has finally been reunited with his family, a deeply emotional moment made possible through the dedicated efforts of Mera Pyara - Virtual Center for Child Safety, working under the vision of Punjab Safe Cities Authority.
The child went missing in July 2021 from Gujar Khan. He was later found in a vulnerable and unidentified condition, unable to share his name, address, or any information about his family. For his safety and well-being, he was shifted to Edhi Home, Islamabad on 1 July 2021. Later, he was transferred to Edhi Home Multan on 27 August 2021, where he remained under care and protection.
For years, the child lived away from his loved ones, while his family continued searching for him with hope and uncertainty.
When the case came under the attention of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, the Mera Pyara team initiated efforts to identify the child and trace his family. As part of its mission, the team recorded his video interview and shared it on Mera Pyara’s official social media platforms to increase outreach and recognition.
This effort led to a breakthrough.
The child’s uncle, Umar Khan, saw the video on Mera Pyara’s Facebook page and immediately recognized him as Lali, son of Sultan, who had been missing since July 2021 from District Nowshera.
Following this identification, the Mera Pyara team initiated a detailed verification process. The family provided the necessary information and supporting documents, which were carefully reviewed. After completing all legal and verification procedures, the child was safely reunited with his family.
The reunion was filled with deep emotions, a moment of relief, joy, and gratitude as years of separation came to an end.
Such success stories highlight the real impact of Mera Pyara’s mission. Due to its consistent efforts, the initiative has been recognized globally and selected among the Top 20 E-Government projects at the WSIS Forum 2026.
Mera Pyara continues its mission to ensure that every missing child is safely reunited with their family.
