Alhamdulillah, a helpless girl named Kiran, who had been at the Karachi Edhi Center since 2008, has been reunited with her family after 17 long years through Mera Pyara Team's efforts in Karachi.
One can only imagine what this innocent little girl went through all these years separated from her family, remembering only her name, with no memory of her home or anyone she could recognize. Meanwhile, her parents endured a long and painful trial, searching helplessly for their daughter with hope and patience.
Kiran had gone to her maternal grandmother’s house in Islamabad at a very young age. While there, she went out to buy ice cream but got lost on her way back home. Somehow, she ended up in Karachi, where she was brought to the Edhi Center. She remembered nothing about herself except her name and the district of Kasur. Her 2008 file had the word “Bagri” written on it, which no one could recognize.
By Allah’s grace, when the Mera Pyara - Virtual Center for Child Safety, a team under the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, went from Lahore to Karachi to conduct interviews of unidentified children and special persons, our officer Arslan Zafar, a resident of Kasur, noticed Kiran’s file. On the file, the word “Bagri” was written, which no one at the Karachi Edhi Center could understand, as they were residents of Sindh, and the child was also in Sindh, while Bagri is a village in Kasur, Punjab.
Since Arslan Zafar was from Kasur himself, he immediately realized that Bagri referred to a village in his own city. Our field team then promptly contacted Kasur authorities, with police support, and a special team from the Punjab Safe Cities Authority was dispatched to the village.
Alhamdulillah, this 17-year-old case was successfully traced by Mera Pyara. The special team we dispatched to Bagri village in Kasur located Kiran’s father, collected the necessary information from him based on available data, and confirmed his details. Once the identification was verified, Kiran was able to connect with her father through a phone call, facilitated by our Mera Pyara reunification team present at the Karachi Edhi Center. Legal procedures have now been completed, and Kiran, a missing girl from Islamabad, is finally reunited with her family after 17 long years.
This reunion was all possible by Allah’s mercy. The mission Mera Pyara team is that no child, elderly person, or special individual remains separated from their loved ones. Every parent should be reunited with their child, and every family should have their loved one back. InshaAllah.
