After 16 years of separation, lost child Nabeel reunion story

After 16 painful years of separation, Nabeel's reunification has finally brought relief, hope, and healing to a grieving family. Nabeel, a special child, went missing from Rawalpindi in November 2009 when he stepped outside his home and lost his way. What followed was a long and heartbreaking journey for both the child and his family.

A kind citizen found Nabeel wandering alone and, unable to trace his family, responsibly handed him over to the Edhi Centre in Islamabad. Later, Nabeel was transferred to Edhi Centre Karachi, where he was given shelter, care, and protection for many years. The Edhi Foundation made continuous efforts to locate his family and ensured his well-being throughout this difficult time.

Meanwhile, Nabeel’s widowed mother never stopped searching for her son. Already burdened by the loss of her husband, she went from place to place for years, hoping for any sign of her missing child. Despite all efforts, there was no information about Nabeel—until technology and persistence finally created a breakthrough.

Mera Pyara - Virtual Center for Child Safety initiative by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), works to reunite missing, unidentified, and vulnerable children with their families. As part of its mission, the Mera Pyara team recently conducted field visits across Pakistan, collecting data from orphanages and welfare centres where many children and special individuals live without identity.

During this process, Nabeel’s video was uploaded on the official Mera Pyara social media platforms. By the grace of Allah, Nabeel’s family saw the video and immediately contacted the team. His sister shared that they were very young when Nabeel disappeared, and their mother had spent years in silent suffering. Seeing the video finally gave them hope. You can read another reunification story of Alishba and Sadia, who reunited with their family after 3 years of separation.

Mera Pyara reunification team was able to reunite Nabeel with his family in Karachi after court verification and liaison with the concerned institutions. This emotional reunion is a powerful reminder of how Mera Pyara - Virtual Center for Child Safety is changing lives by reuniting lost children with their families.

Today, more than 600 missing children, elderly persons, and special individuals are still living in shelters, waiting to be reunited. Their videos are available on the Mera Pyara Facebook page, while detailed profiles can be found on the official Mera Pyara Website under the “Found” section.

If you are also searching for a lost loved one or need to report any unidentified child, Mera Pyara offers a reliable and transparent way to report missing children and track cases of unidentified individuals. Sharing a video or visiting the website could be the key moment that can lead to one more reunification.

The heartfelt reunification stories from Mera Pyara, like that of Nabeel, serve as a powerful reminder that no child is ever truly forgotten.
