Mera Pyara – Virtual Center for Child Safety is Pakistan’s largest nationwide child safety and protection platform, launched by the Government of Punjab under the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA). Operating 24/7 across Pakistan, Mera Pyara addresses not only lost and found child related cases but all types of child safety concerns, ensuring that no vulnerable individual is left without support.
Lost and Unidentified Children, Senior Citizens, and Persons with Special Needs
A significant area of Mera Pyara’s work involves lost and unidentified individuals. These cases include children who are separated from their families due to accidents, travel, or confusion; senior citizens who lose their way due to age-related issues; and persons with disabilities who may be unable to communicate their identity or home address.
All such cases are entered into a Unified Data Center, which serves as a centralised national record of missing and unidentified individuals. This verified data is publicly accessible through the Mera Pyara website, PSCA Public Safety App, and the official Mera Pyara Facebook page. Using AI-based facial recognition, record matching, and nationwide data sharing, Mera Pyara enables faster identification and safe reunification with families.
In just 16 months, over 53,000 lost and found cases were reported to Mera Pyara, and more than 51,000 individuals were successfully reunited with their loved ones.
Child Abuse, Exploitation, and Other Child Safety Concerns
Equally crucial to Mera Pyara’s mission is its role in handling serious child safety and protection cases. These include:
Physical and sexual child abuse
Harassment and violence
Rape and sodomy
Digital exploitation, online abuse, and cyber threats
Any situation where a child’s safety, dignity, or well-being is at risk
These cases are treated with urgency, confidentiality, and care. Mera Pyara provides a secure reporting mechanism, rapid coordination with law enforcement and welfare agencies, and immediate intervention to protect affected children.
During the same 16-month period, 47,000 child safety concern cases were reported, and over 41,000 cases were successfully resolved, demonstrating that Mera Pyara is not limited to reunifications but is a complete child protection system.
